Now More Than Ever, We Need To Have Hope
Donald Trump has been elected our next president. This is now out of our control.
I struggle to find the right words to express my thoughts. Where do I even begin?
The majority is okay with demeaning women? The majority is okay with sexism? The majority is okay with racism? The majority is okay taking physical rights away from women during pregnancy? The majority is okay with offending the LGBT community? The majority is okay with making fun of people? The majority is okay with mocking those with disabilities? The majority is okay with defunding planned parenthood?
The majority thinks America is just like a company? America is not a company. Two separate things that are run entirely different.
Corruption lives within both candidates but does the majority really think the offensive reality tv star is going to solve all of our problems?
What are parents supposed to tell their children? That if you mistreat women it’s okay, as long as you have a certain level of power?
What does this teach our future generation? Are we so blinded by hate and fear that we are okay with dividing everyone? Are we okay with grouping entire races and religions with each other?
Do we accept all of the despicable remarks made by Donald Trump and believe that this rhetoric should be the example of our country?
Does the majority actually feel this way? It’s a hard reality to accept.
But we’re here. So now more than ever, we need to unite. We need to hope Donald Trump will surprise us. We need to hope that he will change the way he speaks and the message he delivers. We need to hope that he will deliver positive change. We have to stick together. We have to forgive. We have to accept.
We have to move on and we have to hope.
