Please, Darling, Take Care Of Your Heart
Take care of your heart.
That heart of yours has so much to offer and so much love to give. Make sure it doesn’t fall in the hands of the wrong person, of a person who will be foolish enough to risk losing you. There’s times you’re going to feel like it’s overbearingly difficult, times when it seems like the easiest thing to do is to stop trying, but don’t. You are allowed to overthink, not to give up. If it’s hard, then chances are it’s worth it. You should be more fearful if it’s too easy because that just means it’s easier to lose. That heart of yours has been tested so many times, experienced pain, overcame tears, and endured so much sadness. This is also the same heart that is so ready and willing to give the love it deserves.
So please, be patient.
You are capable of loving AND being loved. It just takes the right person to realize it. They are out there—do not doubt that. God is already answering your prayers before you even say it. He knows what you need even before your lips utter the words. So believe it. Believe it when He says the plans He has for you are slowly being fulfilled. I’m proud of you and how far you’ve come. From being that insecure teenager who was so caught up in wanting to be in a relationship to who you are today—a strong, confident adult. There’s still so much to learn and so much growth to be acquired, but you are exactly where you need to be, and the fact that you’re happy is what matters. You don’t need someone to validate how beautiful you are; you don’t need approval from someone to tell you when you need to be in a relationship. Everyone goes at their own pace, and like I said, don’t compare your story to someone else. You may be a few chapters behind but that doesn’t mean God hasn’t created a beautiful ending for you too.
Allow yourself to be vulnerable.
I know you’re guarding your heart, but just know that God also has a shield around it so whoever He places in your life will end up teaching you something valuable—whether they’re worth keeping is beyond our control. It’s perfectly fine to simp and to be in our feels—we’re human after all. It’s these types of emotions that make us realize that we too are vulnerable. But don’t let these emotions take over; don’t allow them to sabotage your happiness.
In the most humblest way, I want you to know that you are a blessing in the lives of many people, some of which have even openly voiced that to you. So do not ever lose that sincerity, inspiration, and that hope in your heart. It’s your kindness and genuine spirit that makes you lovable—not everything is always about looks. So if there are times when you feel like you are not worthy, I want you to throw that thought out. I want you to empower yourself to see the beauty in you and in your flaws. The stuff you don’t like will soon turn into the little things you can’t imagine seeing yourself without.
I can’t help but smile and ponder about how thankful I am. I was able to discover myself. I was able to give myself more love than I have ever given myself in the past. I was able to finally realize how important it is to put yourself first. No, it’s not selfish, it’s self-care. Because how can you give something you don’t have yet? How can you expect someone to love you if you can’t even love yourself?
As you continue on in this beautiful journey of yours, continue to be unapologetically who you truly are. Be kind, fearless, courageous, and daring, and please, take care of your heart.
