Read This If You Are A 20-Something Who Has Forgotten How Lucky You Really Are

What is it about being in our twenties? I’d imagine being at this age is easy only for people who have already passed it. Maybe by the time we have reached the thirties our struggles right now will seem so simple. Maybe things will get harder as we get older, and that’s a good thing because that means we are evolving. Which is what life is all about. Or maybe things will get easier.

What do we struggle with in our twenties? Most probably if we are lucky, our troubles will be along the lines of trying to make it through college, finding a decent job, wanting to be financially independent, friendship dramas, boy dramas, and our relationship with ourselves. Not to say that those things are easy to navigate.

We are probably not worried about whether or not we’ll have food to consume, but our worries nowadays would be whether or not we should go to that party that that girl we hate is throwing, or which new and hip restaurant we can go to so we won’t be left out of the loop.

We lose sleep over that post of our ex-boyfriend with his new girlfriend that we just saw on social media, when someone out there somewhere is sleeping in a bed with four other people because there just isn’t enough space to accommodate all of them. But they make do.

The truth is that a lot of people are struggling with the most basic things in their lives.

Sometimes looking outside of the environment around us is a good thing. Sometimes we need to know the bad to know how lucky we are.

So the next time you’re getting fear of missing out, when you’re freaking out about your future, the fact that you don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend, that your friend just abandoned you, know that you are not alone. We are all struggling with the same things.

One of the best cures of feeling like a total failure in life or when we are confused, which we often feel in our twenties is to appreciate what we have. If you’re reading this article right now chances are you already have so much.

Appreciate this moment, however confusing it is, appreciate the confusion, the hurt, because they actually make you grow if you let them. Appreciate your friends who are there for you. Appreciate your solitude. Appreciate this very moment. You are not put into this earth for nothing.

The pain you are feeling right now is there because the universe is trying to tell you something, because it wants you to evolve into a better person.

You might not be okay now, but you will be okay. Believe me.

And there are a lot of reasons for us to be grateful in spite of how bad we might be feeling right now.

This too shall pass. Put down that burden you’re carrying, remember those toxic feelings you are feeling is temporary.

And remember that you are not alone in this struggle.

Go outside. Turn off that depressing music and I hope you’ll feel better.
