Strong Girls Know That Life Moves On

You may not see it, but you are having an extraordinary day. Before you contradict me, let me tell you why. You woke up today, on a bed, in a room, in a house. You got up, took a bath, and brushed your teeth. You have access running water by merely turning on a faucet. Then you see your family or friends, you talk to them, eat breakfast with them. They smile at you, even hug you. You have food to eat and loved ones to share it with. You go to work. You have a job. You go through the motions and go home. You get to rest. Sleep. You have the promise of tomorrow.

You have your smartphone or a computer, and now you’re reading this. Let me tell you what an awesome life you have. And it’s not just awesome because of the things you have, but because of who you are.

I don’t know you personally, but I know that you are just amazing. You’re fighting a battle not many of us can handle. You’re juggling responsibilities, carrying such a heavy weight, but you still manage to keep yourself up float. You have so many questions, so many regrets, but you still keep persevering. You’re struggling financially, but you are still able to smile. You feel empty sometimes, but you can still enjoy the little things – a hug, a cuddle, a flower. You’re sad, but you’re still able to crack a joke or two. You have no idea where you’re going, but you keep on fighting to make your way. Some people may have treated you poorly, yet you are able to show kindness to others. You’ve been hardened by years of disappointments, yet a movie or a book can still make you cry. The ability to do those things in spite of what you’re going through, it takes a different kind of strength. It’s the kind you have – a quiet, immovable, ferocious strength that is also kind and soft. You know what? You are just simply marvelous.

When you want to give up, look at how far you’ve come. Not many people can do what you do every day. You’re doing your best and your best is just so perfectly enough. Hang in there. One day, you’ll wake up and realize that hey, you’re okay. You’ll begin to feel this quiet joy in your heart. Your burdens will be lifted. You’ll look forward to life and make plans for the future again. You’ll laugh at old mistakes. You’ll be the person you once were, yet different – stronger, wiser, better. Hang in there, strong girl. Hard times don’t last forever. Life moves on. And so will you.
