The Style Trend You Should Be Obsessing Over: A Bright Yellow Accessory

Here we weigh in on the beauty and style looks we’re currently lusting over. We promise to deliver fairly simple and easy tips, along with affordable products to help you pull them off.

If you came here in hopes of finding a good waist-cinching technique or a simple guide to DIY flower-crowning, then you’ve come to the wrong place. I’m not here to tout the same old trite styles and trends, but rather to put forth some refreshing ideas that you might not have already heard.

It’s important to note that while “same old” is sometimes boring and vapid, it shouldn’t always have a negative connotation either. The basic white tee, for example, is a “same old” that will always be relevant. Even the Céline ads would technically fall under the category of “same old,” but unlike, say, American Apparel metallic leggings, the Céline ads never actually get old.

Since 2011, Céline campaigns have featured a sole Daria Werbowy, usually standing in front of a Santorini-inspired background and wearing little-to-no makeup. Their campaigns have remained consistently minimal without becoming too mundane. And they’ve managed to stick to the same formula without become too repetitive. When in doubt, one should always look to Phoebe Philo’s Céline. Which brings me to my main point: yellow accessories.

Daria is, again, the star of Céline’s fall 2014 campaign, and again Céline has stuck to their same formula without looking lackluster – that is, except for one glaring feature. In one of the campaign’s photos, Daria stands in front of a white backdrop, wearing an all-black Céline getup, with her hands snug inside a yellow fur snood. Personally I’ve always felt that a bright yellow accessory can only do an outfit well, and here Céline demonstrates that this is abundantly true.

It’s Friday and things are popping off; you should probably let your accessories pop too.
