The Homebody’s Guide To Staying In This Weekend
By Thoughtis
Netflix Recommendations:
TV Show: I need you to embrace your inner sci-fi geek and lower your special effects standards back to 1995, then begin watching a series called Sliders. This is quite possibly the most underappreciated series of the decade and I can’t let you guys live life without having witnessed its brilliance. Four people travel to parallel dimensions in a show starring Jerry O’Connell for 4 out of its 5 glorious seasons. Give the entire first season (9 episodes) a fair shake so it has time to pick up steam, then thank me later when you’re hooked and going insane over how the series finale played out.
Movie: Like Crazy. Grab some tissues, this is a romantic drama film about a long distance relationship, and you will have an uncomfortable amount of feelings triggered while watching.
YouTube Surfing
Begin with the video below, starring a 9-year-old who philosopher who will make you question why Power Rangers and Lisa Frank were your main concerns at that age. Afterwards, bounce around YouTube and see where you end up. It’s always interesting seeing where the viral current takes you.

TV
This weekend should be used to catch up on or refresh your memory of Game Of Thrones episodes, seeing as the new season premieres on Sunday night. In addition, The Walking Dead has its season finale, which is guaranteed to have lots of death and could potentially see a main character killed off. That will be followed by Mad Men’s season premiere which, while I haven’t managed to get into yet, I fully intend on forcing myself to enjoy. So, yeah – lots of TV stuff to get familiar with if you want to be a part of Sunday night/Monday morning discussions.
Music
Go to Pandora Radio. Search “Bear McCreary.” Enjoy a smorgasbord of epic movie and television scores. You’ll feel like you’re a character involved in a dramatic, action-packed or epic scene at any given time.
What’s on the menu?
My specific food related recommendation this weekend is that you construct your own Pizookie. If you’re not familiar, I believe the dictionary definition of a pizookie is “Heaven in your gosh damn mouth.” Basically it’s an oversized cookie that, when removed from the oven is covered in the ice cream of your choosing. The warmth of the cookie melts the ice cream, creating a sea of delicious dairy on top of a heap of blissful cookie. If you need guidance, there are recipes all over the web like this one, but I say keep it simple. Buy cookie dough, squashed it into a small pan and when it’s done cooking, dump a six-pack ab annihilating amount of ice cream on top.
5 Random things I’ll probably do, that you can try too
1. Call your mom or dad or some family member and have a chat. Let them do some talking, even if they’re in rambling mode. Sometimes it’s nice to vent, other times it’s nice to be an outlet for stressed out family.
2. Spend an hour or so Google-ing a bunch of potential tattoo ideas. I’ll probably like plenty and perhaps even sketch out my own concepts as well. If you feel inclined make plans to get inked – or be like me and enjoy the idea of the tattoo instead of ever getting it done.
3. Eat absurd amounts of hummus and pita chips or your favorite dipping snack throughout the weekend.
4. Do a nice little home workout that allows you to remain indoors, without feeling too guilty about any poor dieting habits.
5. Watch Happy Endings airing on March 29, at 8PM on ABC. It’s worthy of your time and will probably be the best thing you’ve watched on a Friday night since the 90s, when this night featured quality shows.
