This Scientist Hasn’t Bathed In 12 Years And Thinks You Should Follow His Lead

Most of us have accepted daily bathing as a part of ordinary routine, but not this guy.

MIT grad and chemical engineer Dave Whitlock claims that there has never been any clinical testing done that supports our daily bathing habits, and he doesn’t see any merit to bathing whatsoever!

“No one did clinical trials on people taking showers every day, so who’s to say that’s a healthy practice? I have not taken a shower in 12 years,” he claims.

Whitlock and his company, AOBiome, claims that by bathing so regularly we are killing off the “good” bacteria that naturally keeps us clean. That’s why they’ve developed “Mother Dirt” a product containing live bacteria that you can spray on your body twice a day instead of taking a traditional bath or shower.

Whitlock first started considering the role of “good bacteria” in staying clean when a former girlfriend asked why horses roll around in the dirt.

“The only way that horses could evolve this behavior was if they had substantial evolutionary benefits from it,” Whitlock says.

That is when he got the idea of “Mother Dirt,” a product that would reintroduce the bacteria that we scrub away with soap.

The company claims that people who use their product are able to reduce their consumption of all sorts of “conventional” products such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, and moisturizer.

Whitlock says that his goal is for at least a billion people a day to turn off the shower, and turn toward live bacteria to keep clean.

No clinical testing has been done on AObiome’s “Mother Dirt” solution, so the company is not making any scientific claims about their product.
