To The Friends We Grow Apart From In Life

By

Dear friend,

I don’t know where you are today. I don’t know what your days are filled with, or where your path has led you to. I don’t know who you now spend your precious time with, or who is making you smile.

And it saddens me to the bones that we ended up here.

I’m not sure how we lost our way. But somehow we did. The thread that once bound us so closely together has been cut loose.

We used to tell each other everything. And I’m still looking for someone new to share my everything’s with, the way I did so easily with you.

I want you to know that if ever you should need me, I mean desperately need me, I’d be there in a heartbeat. No questions asked.

I’d be there.

Because friendships don’t just die like that. Hearts don’t stop feeling. Feelings can’t be switched off on cue. My love for you goes on.

You used to be such an integral part of my world. You occupied a large space in my heart, a space I’ll be reminded of in years to come.

Maybe when I glance back at old photos filled with our smiling faces. Maybe when I visit those same places where we used to wander and let our spirits run free. Maybe when I reminisce about fond memories with loved ones, who knew me and you when we were an us.

I want you to know I’ll be here, when you need me the most.

Because the truth is after all this time apart, I still miss you.

I miss your infectious laugh and the way you could make light of the darkest of situations.

I miss our deep 3am chats, while we inhaled greasy takeaway after dancing our butts off all night.

I miss us.

So remember I’ll be here, when you need me the most.

Because I still care.

And if you just happen to be reading this – my heart hopes upon all hopes that wherever you are, you’re happy.

I wish nothing but the best for you.

All my love,
Me.

Sometimes, all it takes is one book. One book that turns your world upside down. One book that changes your entire life.
