To The Girls Still Longing For The One Who Wouldn’t Text Back

The mist on the mountains enveloped her in a hug.

The birds chirped wildly, calling out to her.

The leaves on trees rustled, loud and demanding,

vying to get her attention.

The stream gurgled conspiratorially,

like it wanted to whisper secrets

that no one but them would know.

The now tepid cup of coffee

released another whiff of its aroma,

hoping to lure her back.

The sun drew patterns on her bare legs.

The winds lovingly played with strands of her hair.

She hastily pushed them out of her eyes,

turned back to her phone

and continued to long for the one who wouldn’t text back.
