Wearing Yoga Pants In Public Is Indecent And Degrading And Might Become Illegal

“Yoga pants should be illegal in public anyway.”

Montana State Representative David Moore introduced legislation this week that would ban both yoga pants and speedos in an attempt to strengthen indecent exposure laws in the mountain state. Specifically the law is an attempt to ban clothing which “’gives the appearance or simulates’ a person’s buttocks, genitals, pelvic area or female nipple.” Here’s the exact wording:

…exposes any device, costume, or covering that gives the appearance of or simulates the genitals, pubic hair, anus region, or pubic hair region or exposes any device worn as a cover over the nipple or areola of the female breast that simulates and gives the realistic appearance of a nipple or areola while in a public place or visible from a public place without taking reasonable precautions to prevent exposure, and disregards whether a reasonable person would be offended or alarmed by the act.

 

Indecent exposure does not include an act of breastfeeding by a mother

And here’s what the attorney who drafted the bill had to say about it’s purpose:

“I want Montana to be known as a decent state where people can live within the security of laws and protect their children and associates from degrading and indecent practices.”

However, while Moore’s proposed bill would broaden what’s considered indecent exposure it would also lessen the amount of time a convicted individual could serve in jail. That’s lessened from a possible life sentence for three acts of indecent exposure to a maximum of five years and a $5,000 fine.

So, really he’s being more lenient.
