What I Hope For You

By

I hope you’re never the smartest person in the room.

And when you thought you were, I hope you learn that you weren’t.

Because that means your surrounding yourself by people who challenge you.

And when you feel challenged, you feel inspired.

And when you’re inspired, I hope you let your inspirations change this world.

Because our world needs change.

I hope you stay humble.

I hope you learn that every ego-driven decision is a bad one.

I hope you learn to laugh. A lot.

Especially at yourself.

Because if you can’t laugh about it, what’s the point?

I hope you stay educated.

And then, I hope you’re generous with your time and choose to educate others.

I hope you challenge every societal norm.

Because, for the most part, they’re fucked.

I hope you help others and I hope you let others help you.

Because we all need help and we shouldn’t feel shame for asking for it.

I hope you speak your truth.

I hope you say what you mean and mean what you say.

And I hope you never settle.

I hope you set boundaries.

I hope you feel empowered when you say ‘no.’

I hope you learn that self-love doesn’t always mean bubble baths and facials.

It’s about putting yourself first. It’s about leaving toxic situations and relationships. It’s about taking control of the very few things you have control over.

I hope you learn that self-love is the greatest middle finger of all.

I hope when someone makes you feel small, you go out of your way to make someone else feel big.

I hope you treat others the way you want to be treated.

The most beautiful people are kind people.

And my biggest hope for you is that you are kind.

I hope you feel loved.

I hope you know that wealth and appearance are not the reasons you are loved.

I hope you know that there is someone who looks at your failures and perceives them as successes.

I hope you know that every failure is a gift.

Because we never learn from a success. And if you’re not learning, you’re not growing.

And if you’re not growing, how can you say that you’re living?

I hope you know you’re a role model, even if you didn’t ask to be one.

I hope you take a moment to step back and appreciate how far you’ve come.

I hope you celebrate your story.

And I hope you celebrate others.

I hope you find hope in what you just read.

And I hope, together, we can lead a more hopeful life.
