When A Girl Cries Rape And We Don’t Believe Her
By Emma Bleker
When crowds cry witch,
the rest believe them,
use their voices to
chime into the war bells.
When a woman cries for her rape,
she is called a witch.
“Look, see how the devil
lies with her tongue.
Look, how her oil black
mouth opens to speak.
Don’t you see?
The devil is the one
who makes women
speak.”
And everyone believes
those who call her witch.
Trials like these never stopped,
only became more quietly
executed,
killed their witches
differently.
And so, the circle
is fulfilled. And so, the
ritual goes.
