Why I Refuse To Even Give You A Chance
By Amanda Martz
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Dating when you’re a millennial is basically a nightmare. Why? Because social media has taken over the world! No, but seriously, just because we are friends on Facebook or SnapChat does not mean I want to date you.
I might not even want anything to do with you, but because we had 32 mutual friends, one including my cousin, I felt obligated to accept your request. Which, why should we feel like we have to accept anyone’s request if you think about it? Maybe that’s just me, but anyways. I love my cellular phone, FB, SnapChat, Instagram, you name it, but you get shit from people that you would rather not waste your time looking at.
Now, I’m not trying to act like I am Miss Perfect, or anything, I’m far, far, from it. But there are many reasons why I won’t even give a guy the time of day, and most of them have to do with our lovely social media outlets.
One thing that just baffles me more than anything, is how men think that women love it when you start constantly commenting on their posts, pictures, etc. Yes, thank you for complimenting, thank you for taking your time to write that, but seriously, you’re starting to get creepy. Honestly! Who the hell wants someone posting on their pictures every single time?
That there just automatically makes me not even want to talk to you, sorry not sorry. The same goes with messages too! If I don’t respond to you, and you just keep sending me message, after, message, after message…. creeper level starts movin’ on up.
Now, most people that know me, know that I am a friendly person, and almost always responds to people. Though sometimes I’m just not in the mood to try to have small talk with someone, especially if I know they only want one thing (and believe me guys, we can tell).
I’m not sure what has happened to actual phone calls, or wanting to talk over coffee, but can we please go back to those times? Thanks. Now, I know, I sound like I’m complaining, but, well I am I guess. This may come as a surprise but, sometimes we just want to be single. Shocker! I know. There is nothing like not having to worry about someone else’s feelings, or trying to make time for someone, especially when you have a million other things to do. Which brings be to another reason why I wouldn’t give someone a chance, and thats neediness.
I’m not sure what has happened to people lately, but it seems like everyone has this problem that they have to constantly be in contact with you now. I’m just going to blame it on social media again, but this has become a real issue! “You haven’t been active in an hour, what are you doing?”.
Wow, can’t a girl binge watch Netflix anymore in peace? Especially for me, I’m usually playing video games with my daughter or watching Disney every night. I’m sorry I didn’t answer your call, but this Disney movie is getting intense! I purposely put my Facebook messenger on inactive sometimes, just so people don’t know I’m on! Sheesh.
Okay okay, now I feel like I’m saying I have a bunch of guys after me, which is totally not the case. I’m simply speaking from past, and present experiences, and other friend’s stories. Okay, so I won’t lie, I am a flirt sometimes. Yes, I enjoy a little flirtatious conversation here and there, but I choose wisely with whom I do this with. Why? Because, one wrong word and you’ll be receiving some not so nice pics left and right. Yep, those lovely pictures, another reason I wouldn’t even give you a chance.
First, if you are sending that to me after we’ve only talked like two times, who else have you been sending these too? Secondly, EW! I’m sorry, but that is not attractive to me, I don’t know about other women out there, but I don’t really find your guy parts sexy in anyway. Which, speaking of pictures, leads me to the last reason I’ll mention today, too many workout/”muscle” selfies. We get it, you like to workout. Good for you! I’m glad you’re being healthy, but seriously? Pictures every time you go to the gym or after? Who are you trying to impress? If you’re posting pictures left and right of your body, workout or no workout, then what mystery is there anymore?
Sometimes it’s nice to meet a guy, get to know him, and then get to see his body, by yourself, alone. There are so many reasons why I wouldn’t give someone a chance, these are just a few that I feel others can relate to. I obviously have my own personal preferences, but I hope a few of you women, or men, out there feel me on this one. Because sometimes we just have to draw the line somewhere, and for me this is just the beginning of it.
