You Are The Cause And The Consequence Of Love
By Jessica Borg
I want love without the consequence.
I want to bare my soul to you without the fear of judgment. I want to whisper all my crazy dreams to you knowing that you won’t discount them as unattainable; knowing that you’ll believe in them as much I do.
I want to love you indefinitely; I want a love that will not be bound by months or years or lifetimes. I want to promise you forever knowing that forever carries as much weight to your heart as it does to mine.
I want to trust you completely. I want to place my fragile heart in your palms and grant you the sole power to do with it what you please. I want to love you unapologetically, free of any expectation of reciprocation; free of the fear of the heartache that may follow.
And should love brand me with the battle scars of heartbreak, I want to know I had fought for a worthy cause.
And I want you to be that cause.
I want you to be my cause. I want you to be the cause of all my heart endures. I want you to be the reason for all the joy and the source of all the pain. I want you to be the cause of all my carelessness and all my cautiousness. I want you to be my greatest lesson and my gravest mistake. I want you to be my most daring risk and my greatest, most treasured reward.
I want you with the ferocious stubbornness of someone who truly loves you and the determination of someone who will never let go. I want you with the ignorance of someone who knows no better and the naivety of someone who doesn’t want to.I want you, simply because.
I want love without the consequence.
But you-you are the greatest consequence of all.
