You Deserve Better, But You Have To Stop Settling

By

You wake up every morning gasping for air because you allow yourself to believe that love is about restless nights and constant prayers hoping for your lover to equate your passion. You’ve convinced yourself that it’s okay for them to neglect you, to forget about your feelings, and that you must put aside your life if it means that they will be happy. You’ve been taught that love is about constantly giving, but never receiving. But love is not this one-way street that you’ve made it out to be.

I hope one day your heart feels what real love is. I hope you know that what you feel now is not what could be. Love is not about giving your body up to them because you feel that in return they will love you. It is not about giving up your dreams because you think that you have to cater to their every need. Love is certainly not to be confused with infatuation, while you are striving to catch your breath. Love is not continuous madness and emotional recklessness.

I know you are desperate to find love so you settle for someone who will only ever be able to give you temporary highs and empty affection. Their love for you is only when they feel it’s necessary. They make you believe that it is true, when all that they want is someone to boost their ego. So, you become manipulated and stick around for someone who is below your worth.

Remember that one day you will find the love that doesn’t require you to stay up all night, left lifeless from crying, screaming, and aching from all the pain. Love is about kindness, patience, and selflessness, and honesty. Of course it may not always be easy, but you will not spend countless nights awake at night because you’re terrified of waking up to them gone. They will not treat your heart like a piece of broken glass.

Stop allowing yourself to be crazy because you’re afraid you wouldn’t know how to deal with the pain if you were sane. You may think that insanity is sacrifice. Don’t give your heart to someone who requires you to lose your mind. It will hurt to move on, but at least one day you will find the love that you deserve.
