You Don’t Need A Hero In Your Fairytale, You Can Save Yourself
By M.J. Pack
When I have a daughter,
I will tell her that fairytales are nice,
but misleading.
A beast is usually just that –
few turn out to be princes.
The same goes for toads.
Fairy godmothers rarely show up
with the right shoes at the right time.
If you wait to be rescued,
there’s no telling who’ll climb your hair
and ruin everything.
Stay away from the tower windows,
don’t rely on dwarves,
find your own happy ending.
You save yourself
or you remain unsaved.
