You’re Allowed To Start All Over (Really)

By

You’re allowed to start all over, darling.

You don’t have to stay in that dark corner of your mind forever. You don’t have to stay stagnant, barely moving, afraid to change the course of your life. You don’t have to stay in that same rainy city, or that same one horse town, where you have lived your whole life.

You don’t have to stay in the same state of agony. The same state of utter fear of seeming too different or being too afraid to color outside of the lines. You don’t have to stay in the same state of loneliness, the kind that never stops aching no matter how much alcohol tries to fill it up.

You don’t have to keep pretending. Pretending to be something you are not. Pretending you like what everyone else likes. Pretending to be happy when you are anything but that.

You’re allowed to be something different, to do something different, and to go against the norm. You’re allowed to break out of your shell, to fly when people tell you that you will fall flat on your face. You’re allowed to give the peace sign to the old you, to the scared you, to the unoriginal you.

You’re allowed to go forth. To move, to create, to walk on different lands and to taste different tastes.

You’re allowed to explore every corner in your mind, to take charge of your dreams and your goals. You’re allowed to say goodbye to the life you once knew, and say hello to a new beginning.

You are allowed to recreate yourself.

You’re allowed to set yourself free from the life you have grown tired of. You’re allowed to wave goodbye to those people who never supported you in the first place. And you’re allowed to do something for yourself, to escape the life that has gripped you in its tight grasp.

You’re allowed to leave that life behind you. And you’re allowed to not look back if you don’t want to.

It’s never too late to do it. It’s never too late to start all over, to welcome a new beginning, and to open up a new chapter in your life. It is never too late to change and grow into someone that the old you doesn’t recognize. And it is never too late to follow the path that you want to walk on.

It is never to late to begin again. You can always, always start everything over again. So, what are you waiting for?
