Your Happiness Is Up To You
I wanted to write that I’m sorry to break it to you, but I’m not. I’m not sorry to tell you that it’s time to wake up. It’s time to realize, no – whole heartedly understand, that you – yes YOU- are in control of your life; your happiness and your future. I’m not sorry to tell you this because by NOT telling you; and NOT reminding you I’m doing you a disservice.
I know we all have hardships. I know how fucking gut wrenching it can be to have a broken heart, to lose someone you love, to experience trauma and everything in between. I get it.
But you know what’s worse? Letting that be it for you. Letting what happened, be something that happened TO you and not for you. Letting you future be dictated by things that have already happened.
So I’m not sorry to say that it’s time to stop using your past or your current situation as justification to give up. Screw that you owe yourself more than that damn it.
I’m tired of hearing excuses, reasons why people can’t change their life and mindlessly continue down a path of slow but painful self destruction consisting of 9-5 jobs they hate, alcohol to forget they hate it and Netflix to numb it all and live in a fantasy of a screen to suck the pain away.
What life is that!?!
It’s time to realize that you do have the ability to change your life, and only you can do that. It won’t be easy, it will suck at times, it will be lonely and you’ll wish you could go back to brain numbing ignorance often. But it’s worth it.
It’s worth it to realize that all of these years of avoiding hearing your truth. Of hiding who you are, of shrinking your dreams. You can let it all go now. It’s worth it when you experience what living really is, how it can really feel, what you’re really capable of, what is possible for you.
But if you’re happier staying stuck and repeating the same patterns again and again then own that. Stop blaming everyone else for your life. Life isn’t out to get you, you’re not a victim; there’s nothing special about you that the world conspires against only you. So if you’re happy staying where you are than own that – but stop blaming the world for your current reality.
I’m not sorry to say that your happiness and your unhappiness is completely up to you.
