11 Incredible Everyday Things That We Always Forget To Be Thankful For

By

1. Water

Water is precious, water is life. The feeling of quenching your thirst with ice cold water after a marathon or a long workout does not even begin to explain how valuable water is to us. People all over the world are struggling and dying due to lack of access to clean drinking water. It’s true that we never know the value of anything until we have lost it. So let us not get to that point; do not waste, or forget to be thankful for, water.

2. Your body

Yes, we have this one body and a lot of us put it through so much: too much eating/drinking/exercising/sun exposure. Yes it can be better, but it could also be much worse.

Remember you are blessed when you are healthy because there are many people who cannot walk, see, hear, move or are struggling to stay alive every day. Love the body you are in.

3. Your vulnerability

Being vulnerable can have a very negative connotation. It can mean that you are prone to getting hurt or attacked morally, physically, emotionally etc. The ability to be vulnerable around people shows you are human and you have feelings. It’s not cool when someone takes advantage of your vulnerability, but the right people will accept you and love you more for your ability to be honest about your flaws and for having the strength to show your weakest side. They will see your vulnerability as a beautiful asset. It takes strength to show your weakness.

4. Chocolate

This one is a little bit biased, but very few people dislike chocolate. For one, chocolate is splendid because it contains similar chemicals produced by the body when someone is ‘in love,’ and love is one great feeling. Plus chocolate comes in so many varieties.  Try  Cadbury’s Double Decker – it is a piece of heaven in your mouth. If a little piece of something can make you smile, why not?

5. Pictures

Everyone can take pictures with a smart phone now, but cherish those memories and the ones from the past – the ones where we waited to get them printed because captured moments are proof of irreplaceable memories. A picture captures a moment that is forever gone. It takes us back to those special times in life.  It’s your amazing mental image in front of your eyes.  Selfies do not belong in this category.

6. The morning

Maybe it was sunny and bright or maybe you woke up to a snow blizzard. Whatever the weather, you woke up, you are alive and you can do anything and everything. Every morning starts your day with an infinite number of possibilities, so it’s up to you to take advantage of it or not. So do something great and enjoy it without overanalyzing  life.

7. Your rights

Rights are important. Our right to be heard, our right to choose and our ability to stand up for ourselves. Do not ever let anyone take away your right to follow your dreams, because this is your life and you have a right to be happy. It is our right to be who we want to be in this world.

8. Your next meal

It’s hard to imagine what it is like to go hungry when you don’t have to worry about what your next meal will be. But there are millions in the world who struggle to get one meal a day. Don’t hate or complain about what you eat. Be grateful and be appreciative of the food in front of you. We have so many options; yes processed foods are so much easier but try to stick to real food. Remember your body: it prefers the real kind.

9. The feeling of love

Love is this crazy feeling that makes the world go around and makes you believe in magic. Always value love, whether it is coming from the one, your parents, your bff, or your pet, because everything we do in this life is just to be loved a little bit more. The world could always use more love so don’t be stingy with how much you give away. Love your morning tea and love every important person/thing in your life.

10. Music

Music has some form of magic or power over people. It helps us escape from our sad realities or even helps us get closer to our ecstatic moments. There are some songs that I can actually feel in my skin. Music helps you relax, it inspires you, it makes you feel and some of it even helps you find answers to your life questions. I am no musician but I don’t think you need to have any musical talent to really appreciate music. Music is my therapy, it takes me to my happy place.

11. The loved ones who surround you

It is very important to appreciate people in your life. This is a no-brainer but so many times we just do not value the people in our lives until they are gone. And by then, it is too late. It is a lost art to recognize how precious they are in our lives while they are still with us. I have so many special people in my life and I cherish each and every one of them because everyone is made of such beautiful qualities and they all add to my life. Yes, conflicts are unavoidable but holding on to your ego will never do you any good. Appreciate the people in your life, they will always be the most valuable part of your life.
