7 Of The Best Sounds You Can Hear

By

1. Coffee brewing in the morning.

Seriously. I don’t know if it gets any better than this. When you’re drudging yourself awake and realize that it is still not the weekend yet, there is nothing more satisfying than a good ol’ cup of Joe awaiting you. This particular sound is even better when you don’t have to make it yourself.

2. An old song you totally forgot you loved.

Whether it’s ‘Mr. Brightside’ by the Killers or ‘Be My Escape’ by Relient K, you start to remember just why this song was so freakin’ awesome. (This sound is best accompanied by awkward dance moves in your car.)

3. Rain hitting the window of your bedroom.

Cliché, but nevertheless a glorious sound to nudge you awake or lull you to sleep. Particularly for those of us living in an area prone to droughts (looking at you, Oklahoma) the sound of rain is the sound of rejuvenation.

4. When someone says your name.

The world has become so virtual and impersonalized that I’ve even been referred to by my Twitter handle on numerous occasions. There’s something special about someone saying your name. It gives you a small sense of importance because somebody thought you great enough to remember who you are.

5. The sizzle of bacon when you first put it into the pan.

If you don’t know this sound because you microwave your bacon, you’re doing life wrong. This sound is generally met with grateful and eager growls from your tummy (which is also an awesome sound if you know food’s coming).

6. The crunch your boots make in the first snowfall.

The feeling of this is just as satisfying as the sound that accompanies. This crunch officially means winter, i.e. scarves, hot cocoa, warm fires, snuggling and Christmas music.

7. When old friends greet each other for the first time in a long time.

If you are the pair of friends or if you’re just watching someone else create this sound, it’s spectacular. You can literally hear history because you know these people have something between them. Whether it’s friendship or love or something else you get to experience a small amount with them if you’re lucky enough to be listening in.
