This Is Why The People You Choose To Surround Yourself With Matter

By

There comes a certain point in all of our lives where we’re allowed to evaluate the people we choose to surround ourselves with. But oftentimes, we make decisions out of fear rather than out of growth. Whether that’s ending a 10-year friendship or cutting it off with someone toxic, you’re not a bad person for feeling that way. It’s just growth.

It’s completely normal to outgrow people. You’re allowed to have a change of perspective on things. You’re allowed to grow. You have to let yourself be surrounded with people that motivate you and share the same mindset with you or else it’s so easy to forget your integrity. You are who you choose to surround yourself with, after all. If you don’t surround yourself with the right people, with people that help you stay grounded in the things you believe in, then that might hinder your growth as a person.

As much as this hurts to say, this includes even your best of friends, the ones you’ve known for what seems like a lifetime. It doesn’t mean that you don’t love them anymore, and it doesn’t even mean you have to abandon them. But it means that you have to make decisions that are out of growth rather than out of convenience. You have to stop letting the wrong people hinder your growth as an individual and as a person.

You have to realize that friendships can be just as unhealthy and draining as romantic relationships can be.

The person that you’re meant to become is going to cost you some necessary sacrifices, and that means friendships and even lifestyles that you’ve grown to be accustomed with. You’ve been so used to a life that makes you feel good, but if it’s not making you grow into the best version of yourself, then what’s the point?

It’s so easy to just choose friends that don’t share the same ambitions, principles and priorities with you because you know how hard it is to find someone like that.

You know deep in your heart that your passion is ignited when you’re around people that celebrate your success with you and remind you who you are and who you’re not. The right people will spark your mind and will let you grow and blossom into this beautiful, extraordinary person you’ve always dreamt of becoming. It just takes an enormous amount of courage before it happens.
