A Florida Police Officer Apparently Went To Lunch Instead Of Going To A 9-1-1 Call
A 9-1-1 call was made in Lee County, Florida, where operators dispatched deputy Yvan Fernandez to the scene.
Unfortunately for the caller, 47-year-old Gwen Minis, the deputy never made it to the scene.
Instead, officials are saying that Deputy Fernandez went to lunch right after taking the 9-1-1 call.
Sheriff Mike Scott had this to say:
“If what I know is in fact validated and proven through this investigation, my estimation is that it leaves him unfit to wear this uniform and as long as I’m the sheriff, he’ll not ever wear it again.”
Yvan Fernandez has since been stripped of his badge and gun. Fernandez is currently on administrative leave with pay.
A neighbor found the caller facedown on the ground, covered with ants. In one hand, she still had her phone. In the other, a bottle of medication.
Apparently, it took over an hour for the deputy to arrive, but by that time, it was too late.
The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
