Darling, Don’t Be Afraid To Say No

By

It takes a lot to say YES, but it takes a lot more to say NO.

No has always been perceived as a negative word. Unfriendly. Unfavorable. Antagonistic. Pessimistic. Disagreeable.

Is that really the case?

NO. I don’t think so.

During our younger years, we were always taught to say YES to everything. Yes to learning. Yes to the demands of society. Yes to our parents. Yes to our teachers and professors. Yes to growing up. Yes to discovering new things. Yes to people. Yes to love. Yes to pretty much everything.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Yes is positive. Enthusiastic. Agreeable. Favorable. Protagonistic.

YES is a useful word. It still is.

However, growing up, the word NO proves to be more useful and necessary.

If anything, No is gonna save you more than Yes will.

So please, honey, do not be afraid to say no.

Do not be afraid to say no to the job you don’t love.

Do not be afraid to say no to the guy who’s not healthy for you.

Do not be afraid to say no to the unnecessary stresses and frustrations of the world.

Do not be afraid to say no to the mistakes you want to forget.

Do not be afraid to say no to the people who are toxic for you.

Do not be afraid to say no to the friends who only bring you down.

Do not be afraid to say no to the boss who does nothing but degrade you.

Do not be afraid to say no to the things that do not help you become a better person.

Do not be afraid to say no to the changes that do not help you grow.

Do not be afraid to say no.

Darling, you are beautiful. Unique. Intelligent. Amazing.

If anyone tells you differently, tell them NO.

Because you are one of a kind.

So when he asks you to take off your clothes for him so he can love you better, do not be afraid to say no.

When she asks you to buy her that expensive perfume to prove your love and worth, do not be afraid to say no.

Saying no takes a lot of courage. Strength. Conviction.

When you say No, say No because you want to, not because society wants you to.

When you say NO, say it loudly. Clearly, Firmly. Confidently.

Honey, it’s gonna take a lot to say NO. But it’s gonna be worth it.
