Thoughts on DIT Fest in Kent, Ohio

By

We went to DIT Fest. It was full of high school kids. It was held in The Vineyard, which is a community church that marries homosexuals. Not your average church. There was no drinking at DIT Fest. Everyone was wearing hipster outfits and had tattoos. The event was organized by Richard Wehrenberg who did a great job of advertising and getting good bands there.

Sam Pink, Jordan Castro, Mallory and myself began to walk back to The Alamo after looking at the venue. I was talking to Sam Pink about Youngstown linguistics and wasn’t paying attention. I led us down the wrong street. It was really bad. I think Jordan Castro hated me for like 15 minutes. But Jordan Castro called Brittany Wallace and she told us how to get home.

We made it back to The Alamo and drank some beer. I got a blow up bed from my car for people to sleep on. Mallory Whitten and I put it together. Brittany Wallace showed up and we went back to DIT FEST so Sam Pink could read.

There were about 80 kids there. The room was hot and smelled like armpit sweat. The room was carpeted and had a large artistic painting of the Ancient Jew Jesus on the wall.

Sam Pink went up and read to the kids. He read from his novel Person. The crowd took it well and liked it. Sam Pink was a good reader with a clear voice and he looked tough standing up there. A band played. Later, Richard Wehrenberg went up and read. He read didactic poems about life and we enjoyed them. We left.
