DMX To Likely Beat The Sh*t Out Of George Zimmerman In Charity Boxing Match

When I heard the news that DMX would be fighting George Zimmerman in a special national catharsis charity boxing match, I thought this can’t be real. Like, what the actual fuck? I was reminded of the 1909 painting Both Members of This Club, seen in the video above, by the painter George Bellows that shows a black boxer pretty much slaughtering a white guy. Though the painting is about a boxing match, it’s also literally the picture of racial tension in America.

Then I read how DMX was chosen out of an eager pool of 15,000 people, and I’m like OH SHIT. He about to get turnt up. This is a man who promised on record to fight Zimmerman on behalf of “every black person who has been done wrong in the system…I am going to beat the living fuck out of him. I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I fuck him up right.”

“Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my d**k out and piss on him … right in his muthaf**kin face.”

Oh for real?

But DMX might not have it so easy. As we all know, George Zimmerman is a man with some serious anger management issues. Plus, Zimmerman (30) has been training for his big performance for months and could actually beat DMX (43) to the punch.

The thing that worries me, though, is how this announcement occurs right in the middle of Black History Month and, more to the point, does nothing to dispel the stereotype of black men as irrationally angry thugs/beasts. Black men and women have historically, and even medically and scientifically, been wrongfully classified as angry monsters. It’s a trope you find everywhere, from Super Bowl winner Richard Sherman getting called a “thug” to certain porn sites that only show black guys as huge-dicked aggressors.

So while some of us might feel that Zimmerman will get what he deserves if he puts one toe in that boxing ring, I’m really scared about how this performance might make race relations in America even worse. It may not do so in the form of riots and protests but in the more private spheres, which is where real racism occurs anyway. I can already hear the racial epithets being thrown at DMX and the nasty generalizations being lodged at him about other black men in America.
