Every Walking Dead Fan Must Experience This
Let’s face it, right now we all miss The Walking Dead. The show is not coming back until October, which is a long time from now. So what do you do? Maybe you have gotten into the comics to satisfy your walker delight?
Or maybe you missed the immersion of the storyline, characters, and intensity that comes with every episode of The Walking Dead. What if I said you could experience The Walking Dead all over again for the first time? New characters, an immersive storyline, and the emotional pull are all one click away with Telltale’s video game, The Walking Dead.
Now before you stop reading because you “don’t play video games” give the game a shot. For anyone who may not be a gamer, the extent of the gameplay in Telltale’s: The Walking Dead comes down to clicking a single button, that is it. You do not have to be familiar with a gamepad or keyboard and mouse to enjoy The Walking Dead. Now hopefully you have not been scared away by the words video game; let me tell you why Telltale’s: The Walking Dead is just AS good as AMC’s television show.
The Characters
Sure, we all love Darryl, but I’d venture to say you will enjoy and become even more connected with Lee and Clem, the lead characters in Season 1 of Telltale’s game. Throughout the entire game are just as many memorable characters as in the AMC show. During Season 1 (there are two seasons of the game) you play as Lee Everett, a former college professor who finds himself in the back of a cop car to start the game. Very early in the game Lee takes on the role of caretaker and protector of a young girl named Clementine. Their relationship and interactions are determined by you, and as the game progresses, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more likable duo.
Shape The Story Feel The Consequence
The Walking Dead is all centered around you making decisions that shape the world and help a group to survive. When playing this game you will be forced into many tough moral decisions on how to survive as if you were right in The Walking Dead universe yourself. It is one thing to see Rick decide to shoot another human, it’s another when YOU personally have to make the tough decision in the story. Every decision you make has a consequence on how the story unfolds and also how the other survivors treat you.
The Emotion
Most interactive game experiences leave a lot lacking in the emotional department, and it has become the norm (which is fine for most gamers). Telltale is able to pull off something special and unique with their version of The Walking Dead. In an odd, but impactful way this game has a way of making you feel what is actually happening to the characters. Personally, I often find myself making fun of the storylines and characters in games, and laughter becomes the emotion, but not in The Walking Dead. The game takes you through a wide range of emotions without you even realizing it. That is how good this game is.
The Walking Dead is available for every platform, there is, including iOS and PC, so you do not need to go buy a console to play it. If you are a fan of The Walking Dead, regardless if you are a gamer or not, you owe it to yourself to play this game.
