Here’s Why Everyone Should Go To Therapy (Even If You Think You Don’t Need It)


In today’s society, mental health awareness is at an all-time high, but we still have people that are scared to admit they need help because they fear what others will think or say.

I am a firm believer that everyone can benefit from some form of therapy, regardless of their situation. Life happens to everyone. Tragedy and hardships happen to everyone.  It’s natural to have emotions, and it’s important not to bottle them up inside. When we suppress our emotions, we become someone unrecognizable. We become numb. We find salvation in things that aren’t meant for us. We fall into a pit of despair. Our world loses its color until it becomes completely black.

Regardless of how strong you are, you cannot be immune to life. And you cannot call yourself a strong person until you can admit that you need help when you need it. You are not strong until you can admit when you feel weak. And admitting you need help doesn’t make you weak, it makes you stronger than all of us combined.

So to everyone that is struggling right now, I want you to know that you are not alone. Everyone struggles with something, even if they don’t show it. Please don’t fear what others will think of you. If people do judge you, it is only because they are envious that you have courage and they don’t. You owe it to yourself to be happy—don’t let anyone stand in the way of that.

To the people who believe they are healthy, I still encourage you to try some form of therapy. Even if you’re right, it can only make things better for you and the people around you. It will make you fall in love with yourself, life, and those around you. Therapy slows things down and makes you appreciate the little things. It helps you take things one day at a time. Most importantly, though, it makes you more accepting of those people around you that are struggling.

Going to therapy in any form can only make this world a better place, and I am a firm believer in that.
