I No Longer Want To Settle In Love

Sometimes I wish I could settle;
Settle for mediocre men,
Settle for their bullshit,
Settle for their mediocre sex,
Settle and be happy living in ignorant bliss.
The thing is that I can’t settle for mediocre men anymore.

After being in a relationship and settling year after year and tolerating bullshit, I refuse to settle for anything less than what I deserve.
I know what I deserve and I have yet to find it.
I affirm that I will continue to search for what I deserve because I refuse to settle.

We often tolerate bullshit with the wrong people because we think we will change them.
We think we will love them enough for them to change their behavior.
We think that we will be able to tolerate the mediocre relationship because it is better than being alone.
When we tolerate someone’s bullshit, what you are saying is that you allow this behavior and that is okay to be treated poorly.
When we tolerate mediocre men because we think we won’t find someone better, what you are saying is that you do not know your worth and therefore are settling.

It is not okay to settle for someone who treats you poorly.
It is not okay to settle for someone who you wouldn’t want your best friend dating.
It is not okay to settle for someone who you can’t see a future with.
It is not okay to settle for someone who you know deep down is wrong for you.

This is me standing up for myself. I refuse to settle for men’s bullshit. I refuse to tolerate bad behavior. I refuse to settle for bad sex. I refuse to settle for disrespect. I refuse to settle in this life we are given.

I can’t settle for men not realizing what they have when they have me.
I can’t settle for men disrespecting women.
I can’t settle anymore. I won’t settle anymore and neither should you.
