I’m Gay But I’m Still A Person

You! Yes; you. You with your labels. Can I tell you something? Those stereotypes that you create and the groups that you force us into… it’s not for us. It’s for you. Because you are terrified and scared. Scared of change. You write me off as a mistake because I’m a girl who kisses other girls when you forget that gender is a concept. It’s not based on reproductive organs and physical traits; that’s your sex. Gender is an idea and you let that idea restrict you with your simple minded ways. Love is love at the end of the day. You can call me what you will: dyke and fag… but I’m a person. A person with feelings and a life. A life I’m trying to live which is hard enough without your stereotypes. Tell me, how is a girl loving a girl affecting your life? I am not a sin. The world has bigger problems than people not following the norm. Take a step out of your shallow thinking and realize that a loving, healthy relationship should not be restricted by gender or what society has to say about it. You can throw your labels and scorned hateful words at me… nothing will stop me from being myself. And if God created man in his image… then he created me and loved me with no intention of changing me. So, from me to you. We are human beings, we are more than our sexualities and our genders. I understand it is clearly beyond your limited understanding but not everything is black and white. It is the 21st century and there is nothing wrong with being different- in fact being different is encouraged. For those who have been bullied with labels that make them ashamed of who they are; stand tall. After all Lady Gaga once said “I’m on the Right Track Baby I Was Born This Way”.
