The 5 Greatest Love Song Lyrics

By

Things are about to go great and emotional with great levels of great and zero levels of “how I am pathetic and emotionally weak for feeling so strong!”.  Jesus, I feel so not like writing an introduction, because it’s fucking obvious what I am going to do: read the title. Yeah, that’s it. And by the way, it’s my opinion, since there’s no such thing as an absolute opinion, especially in such thing as arts. Oh anyway, I don’t only think these songs are just the greatest when it comes to lyrics, I think they’re the greatest greatest, so it puts all the greatness of this in a whole greater level of great.

1. Wish You Were Here – Pink Floyd

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk_V6R_pGfM&w=584&h=390]

My favorite part: EVERY SINGLE LETTER? Ok, I have to be more disciplined, so: “So you think you can tell heaven from hell, blue skies from pain? Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?” and “Did you exchange a walk on part in the war, for a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl year after year. Running over the same old ground, what have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here”. #hashtag #dead (I pretty much put the whole lyric but my motto is to at least try, and that you cannot say I did not).

This song can mean so much to so many people. Jesus, I feel like my soul left my body to not be able to review it in someway, because it is afraid of its highness. This song is flawless, flawless. The acoustic guitar (when I learned how to entirely play it was pretty much the most beautiful day at my life, but then I guess I forgot), David Gilmour’s baby maker voice, the lyrics!!! Anyone who tells that a single flaw can be find is a damn German nihilist. Go cut your girlfriend’s other toes. ****The Big Lebowski reference***** I’m the worst, I wish I could do references without telling it is a reference but I am afraid people will think I’m dumb and worst, I’m afraid people I’ll make people feel dumb because that’s how I feel when I miss ninety percent of the references made around me.

 2. Skinny Love – Bon Iver

My favorite part: I adore it all. It’s probably implied that I love every single song I chose here entirely, since I chose only 5 within the zillion I listen to, so: “Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer. Tell my love to wreck it all, cut out all the ropes and let me fall”.

The girl this song was written to just gained a non traffic ticket to heaven just by inspiring such thing. Jesus! I cannot explain how much this is marvelous. Isn’t it obvious? Do I really have to explain whatsoever? I mean, just listen to it! It’s so raw, and honest, and drunk with passion and I’m so lame at reviewing things I love, I think I should only keep on the negative cynical retarded part of life so I can write something more or less. But really, are any words needed to celebrate the greatness of this song besides the song lyrics itself? Seriously, I’m only half trying to run away from this.

3. Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVGl8Spm1v8&w=584&h=390]

My favorite part:Your faith was strong but you needed proof, you saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya. She tied you to her kitchen chair, she broke your throne and she cut your hair, and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah” WOW.

This is pure poetry! There could have been “Hallelujah: the book with a single poem much better than anything any Tumblr post with a zillion notes. And yeah, I know it was written by Leonard Cohen and cheers to him for writing such thing, and yes, I know it’s about song lyrics so I should probably put his singing, but it’s not only about lyrics but the whole thing and the Jeff Buckley’s version is infinitely times better and yeah… Oh, and yeah, I know you might not think it’s about love… But seriously, what feeling isn’t about love? Even hatred has love, the only exception would be a song like “I’m bored, I’m indifferent, I’m a nihilist”. This song draws an abstract landscape to feel and walk by, with characters to never see but to understand, with a story to drift not to be pushed. Great! Flawless! Yeah!

4. Pictures of You – The Cure

My favorite part:Remembering you running soft through the night. You were bigger, and brighter, and whiter than snow. Screamed at the make-believe, screamed at the sky. And you finally found all your courage to let it all go.” And “Remembering you fallen into my arms crying for the death of you heart. You were stone white, so delicate, so lost in the cold. You were always so lost in the dark”.

If you want to be an obsessive stalker, be it with class. And this has the class of alien royalty if you want to know. This has so much class that you can be an alien and you can get any person just by writing this song to him/her. Of course you’ll have to use your alien power to go back in time and steal Robert Smith lines of thought for this song before he even writes it so you can leave no trace. With such song you can take Kate out of Will, just as an example of the power of this song. But please don’t do it. They look really cute together and they just had a baby, so please don’t ruin a family and a whole United Kingdom. Try it with some cat lady, she’ll be excited! And since you’re an alien you’re not that much attractive, make sure to steal Robert Smith’s another song called “Just Like Heaven”. Good luck, and please, take me back in time some time to see Rimbaud, right in the 19th century. Thanks already!

5. Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright – Bob Dylan

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZPh3hpxLKs&w=584&h=390]

My favorite part: I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul” and “You just kinda wasted my precious time”

This would have been a spirit disabled list if there wasn’t any Dylan’s song here, it’s a fact whether or not you believe because anyway, you don’t believe in anything, you’re a nihilist. This isn’t the sweetest “you’re my teddy bear” song, but the issue here is that love has to be deep and honest, and this song came from a confidence of a love that had been felt so strongly that it seems to sting endlessly. A great love song is not about how complimentary it is, but how it is honest with the writer’s feeling and reality through the damn sea of abstractness of feeling. A great love song is not about being a gift to someone, but it’s about being an exorcism of the writer. A great love song is not an idealism of someone, but an adoration of someone’s flaws. A great love song is every single one I put here and not a single one that Katy Perry daydreams about being so deeply levitated: “Wow, my feelings are so great that I’m going to make a birthday metaphor, because is there a greater feeling than having your own date with cakes?”. Let’s make a revolution people, let’s write good songs! You, not me, because I’m lazy and my skin is too snobby for musical strings. And I’m a nihilist.
