This Is What You Should Think About When You’re Lonely
When you find yourself sitting in your bed, hugging your knees, and on the verge of breaking down in the middle of the night – take a deep breath and let it all out. Let all the pain, all the fears, all the worries out. Cry if you want. Scream if you want. Close your eyes and let go.
When your heart is pounding and the darkness of the night suddenly makes you feel alone – think of all the people who love you. Think of their smiles when they see you, their excitement when you’re about to meet them, their laughter when you crack a joke in front of them. Remember every person in this world who cares about you.
It’s so easy to be swallowed by loneliness and consider yourself as worthless. It’s easy to let the surge of your negative emotions overshadow the light inside of you. It’s easy to embrace the emptiness in your heart and give up trying to make yourself feel complete.
But you’re stronger than you think you are. You are capable of turning things around and making your situations better. It all starts when you believe in yourself. It all starts when you tell yourself that there is nothing you can’t do.
You can fill the void inside of you with sparks, with fire, with never-ending love. You can throw away the things that are hindering you from prospering. You can avoid all the destructive thoughts that enter your mind. All you need is the bravery and the commitment to do it.
All you need is to think of all the reasons why you should live for another day. Think about the rough days that you survived in the past. Days when you told yourself that you wouldn’t be able to handle the pain, but you did. Think about the times when you thought you would fail, but you turned out to be victorious.
When you feel alone, focus your thought on that one thing that makes you look forward for your future. Remind yourself the dreams that you need to achieve, the walls that you need to break, the lines that you need to cross to make it to the finish.
When you lose sight of where you’re heading, think of the places that you want to visit, the city that you want to settle in, the streets you want to get lost into, and the exotic destinations you want to discover. Think of the people that you want to meet, people you want to be friends with for a lifetime, people you want to change your world.
When you think no one’s going to love you and you’re scared that you’re going to grow old alone, know that it’s not true. Someone is going to enter your life and make your loneliness disappear. Someone is going to fall in love with you without asking you to change.
Maybe it’s not yet the right time for them to arrive in your life. Maybe you need to be patient and trust the world more. Maybe right now you’re enough for yourself.
Your loneliness can’t kill you. It can hurt you, make you feel bad about yourself, put you into dark places. But you have the power to overcome it. You have the authority to evict it from living inside of you.
You can filter what comes into your mind. You can choose whether or not to let your thoughts affect you. And you can always control the process of how your brain works – you just have to believe that you can do it.
