In Russia, human rights are being violated — and the real fear is that people (tourists) will be prosecuted by Russian anti-gay protesters during the Sochi Winter Olympics.

But honestly, this should not be something that people should be concerned with just because of the Olympics. People are physically assaulted for being themselves. They are tortured, maimed, beaten, just because they go against this “culture” that says men love women, women love men. That’s just simply not true. Nothing is black and white, nor will it ever be.

For now, authorities need to start cracking down on anti-gay protesters who continue to abuse the LGBT community in Russia. Maybe exposing the severity of the situation will help propel outlaw hate speech and hate crimes like this everywhere around the world.
