We Shouldn’t Be Scared Of Failing
By Daphne Sze
We are meant to live a world we cannot control. We’re those little souls left to wander, the little footprints who make a mark on earth. We treat success and failure differently, but they both have something in common – the urgency to keep moving forward.
Oftentimes, we choose to succeed rather than to fail, but I beg to disagree. You may think that failures are the attempts to fulfill something, but fell short; but to me, failures are what pushes you off the ground and propel you to greater heights; because really, there’s nothing more to lose when you’re buried six feet under your own failures – there’s only one way out, and that’s to move forward. When you’re shaken, bent on your knees with hands over your face; far too many times, we almost always accept defeat right away.
However, failure doesn’t teach us to accept defeat, it teaches us that every time we fall down, there’s nothing more important than growing up and getting back up. We shouldn’t just sit down and slump around, because we’ve lost. We can’t just blame it all on ourselves because we didn’t make it. Most of all, we don’t need to prolong the agony, only to realize that there’s nothing more we could do once we’ve hit rock bottom. We move on because there are far too many things that are relevant and significant in our lives.
We continue to tread on our journey because there are far more reasons to live and take on our adventures, than abandoning them because we’re scared. We’re scared because we’re afraid of uncertainties, without knowing what to expect and what to look forward to, but do know that we can’t always hide in the dark and be afraid. We take the fall and make mistakes because we’re humans and we’re vulnerable, but falling down is no excuse to succumb to failure. There’s no path that goes backwards, or sidewards from where we are now because Life isn’t meant to be lived that way.
We can’t go back to the past and move through both space and time simultaneously, because we’re created to live in a dimension that only goes one way, and that is to move forward. So don’t be afraid to fail, because they bring out the best in us – the best way we handle ourselves amidst distress and pressure.
Always remember that there will always beauty in failing, and what we have to realize is that failing isn’t a dead end, it opens us to another door that leads us to infinite possibilities. We must open the right door to unleash it potentials; because at the end of the day, when everything’s said and done, we go back to the very reasons why we’re afraid to fail, and that is because we’ve accepted defeat far too early in the journey. So don’t make the same mistakes next time, if we’ve fallen down a thousand times, we get up a thousand and one times.
