When You Ask Somebody To Love You Without Loving Yourself

By

I will break you.

You are my crutch, and I will lean on you and lean on you until you can’t support my weight anymore.

You are a well, and I will take from you and take from you until you have nothing left for yourself.

You are grout, and I will crumble and crumble until you yourself collapse from the energy exerted trying to keep me together.

Who did this to you? Why are you this way?

This is all I know, the only thing that makes sense to me; I cannot see it your way. But I love you, you protest. Why can’t you love yourself?

With another failure exposed, a light shines bright through the fresh breach, and you go to fill it, albeit a little more slowly this time.
