Where Does Mark Zuckerberg Live? Now and Then

Everybody knows that Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t have a refined sartorial sense, and that, for a millionaire, he lives kind of modestly; last year, for example, he revealed that all of his homes in the Silicon Valley he rented and found on Craigslist. Tyler Winklevoss, the man engaged in a legal battle with Zuckerberg over Facebook, is quoted as saying Zuckerberg is “the poorest rich person I’ve ever seen in my life.” Zuckerberg is even regularly seen in public places (apparently once you’ve attained a certain level of wealth and status, going out in public is actually a form of modesty).

But now, finally, Zuckerberg is buying a home for the first time in Palo Alto. So what’s it like? The $7 million, 5,000 square feet house is about a ten minute drive from what will soon be Facebook’s new headquarters in Menlo Park. The home includes a saltwater pool, five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and a music alcove. This might sound decadent, but apparently the home is still modest in comparison to other Silicon Valley millionaires, like Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle, who has an 8,000 square-foot home based on the home of a 16th Century Japanese emperor.
