You Are Withering Away Inside Of Your Comfort Zone
Your comfort zone is a protective bubble — but it is not protecting you as much as you think.
When you turn down dates, when you delete dating apps, when you lie about your feelings, when you choose to stay single instead of taking a chance on someone who makes you feel alive, you are not protecting yourself from heartache.
You are causing yourself another brand of heartache. You are choosing to suffer on your terms. You are choosing to break your own heart instead of taking a risk where someone else could break it for you.
When you turn down invitations to parties, when you ignore texts from friends, when you pretend you are sick to get out of an event, you are not protecting yourself from embarrassment.
Yes, you might have regretted saying the wrong thing or tripping over your own two feet — but you are going to have another set of regrets when you choose to stay home. You are going to have FOMO. You are going to be upset you missed out on the fun. You are going to wish you would have made a different choice.
When you avoid sending out applications, when you avoid starting a new creative project, when you avoid asking your boss for a raise, when you avoid chasing after your dream career, you are not protecting yourself from failure.
You are choosing failure. Quitting is failure. Not even believing in yourself enough to try is failure. The rest is progress, even if you don’t end up with the results you wanted.
By choosing to remain in your comfort zone, you are doing yourself a disservice. You are stripping yourself from personal growth. You are taking away your chance to form new friendships, to see new places, to build new memories.
You need to take risks in order to better yourself. It’s scary to walk into the unknown, but you are withering away inside of your comfort zone. Nothing is going to change unless you take the proper steps.
You have to put energy into self-improvement. You have to have faith in yourself.
You are not always going to be in the mood to leave your comfort zone. You are not always going to have the strength to leave your bedroom. And that is okay. You don’t have to force yourself to do anything that makes you uncomfortable, but do not let no become your go-to answer. Do not make a habit of canceling plans. Do not shelter yourself indoors. Do not allow your fear of embarrassing yourself hold you back from living your best life.
You might be afraid of failure — but you are talented. You have potential. You have the tools you need to succeed.
You might be afraid of making a fool of yourself in public — but you are a good friend. You are funny. You are caring. You are soft-hearted. You are worth having around.
You might be afraid of having your heart broken — but you deserve to be swiped right. You deserve a magical first date. You deserve a magical first kiss. You deserve to be loved.
Do not let your fears hold you back from happiness. Your comfort zone might feel like the safest place to spend your days, but it is more dangerous than you realize.
