Top 10 Bleakest Unpublished Blog Posts of 2009
By Tao Lin
7. “Curtly Bleak” (February 4)
Seems like an edited-down version of the “idle ranting” of January 29 (#3 on this list). Seems like I might have edited that to this in an effort to garner something from it, something I could post. I think I didn’t post this.
Not sure when my Bookforum “fixation” began. Seems already established in this blog post. Seems…funny that Bookforum has since garnered from my career an “extremely damning” review of Richard Yates. Just felt what seems like an earnest yearning to “curl” into a fetal position and then continue with that movement until I didn’t exist.
do i need to blog
when did i last blog
should i lay in a fetal position
how many days have passed
without new content can a blog survive
will this blog have zero hits a day
can blogger cancel my account
when will the next news item arrive
what is bookforum waiting for
nylon’s article on muumuu house is in march and i can link that
but what month is it right now, really early in february
can a blog survive
am i going to die
Actually seems like a fast-paced blog post, I think, in a manner that peacefully mollifies its bleak content. I imagine myself quickly typing it and clicking “save as draft” and then eagerly focusing on something else, almost without processing what I had typed. The bleakness here seems like a distraction rather than a worldview.
